FAQ 169
What is a CAS number?

A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number is a virtual number issued by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), part of the UK government's Home Office.

A CAS number confirms that we have made you an Unconditional offer of a place to study with us, and that you have accepted this. International students coming to study in the UK must include with their visa application a unique CAS number, linking them to the University of Sheffield.
