I'm looking to apply for your PhD programme - am I able to complete research remotely or away from the university?

Thank you for contacting us about our PhD programme at Sheffield University Management School.

All the information you require to apply for the programme can be found on our website - click here for full details. You can view a list of our members of staff and their research interests here, so you can start to identify a potential supervisor.  We also invite applications for the Management School PhD projects from students who have already secured funding or are self-funded. Further information on this can be found here.

For your convenience, I have listed below the essential requirements that we require in order to process your application, however we also recommend that you read through our How to Apply pages for comprehensive information on the next steps in your application.

  • Full academic transcripts
  • Two academic references
  • Evidence of English language ability: The English language entry requirement for our PhD programme is IELTS with a minimum score of 7.0 and at least 6 in all components. Full details and guidance can be found here.
  • Research proposal: This should be approximately 3,000 words and fully referenced. It should include details of the research questions, a brief review of the key literature, proposed methodology and why you have chosen the subject.
