FAQ 145
What societies and clubs are available?

The Students' Union is home to well over 300 societies and committees so we hope you'll find one (or a few!) that suit the way you want to spend your free time. Societies are groups of students who enjoy a common interest. Most Sheffield students are involved in societies because they're the best way to make friends, try new things, or carry on your passions.

At Sheffield we believe in sport for all, so there is something for everyone no matter your experience. We have over 60 sports clubs that you can get involved in on a competitive or social level. Each year, we have a Varsity competition with Sheffield Hallam which attracts thousands of students and is the home of the largest Varsity Ice Hockey game outside of North America.
